If you are planning a destination wedding in India, Udaipur and Goa will unarguably be in your list. We would definitely add Kovalam to the list without a second thought. The serene beach, adjacent lagoon and a presidential suite with infinity pool at the cliff makes Taj Kovalam, a must entrant to the venue list.
Sharon Skinner from UK was very particular to have her wedding both in her birth place Trivandrum and her husband Nickolaus’ place Austria. After a Civil wedding in London and a Church wedding in Austria, Sharon and Nikolaus had a two day long Indian wedding at Taj Kovalam.
The family was very clear on how the images should be and it made our job very easy. Apart from their friends and family from Trivandrum, they had guests from UK, Austria, Frankfurt and USA. For them the wedding was not just witnessing their dear ones getting married, but also an experience of Kerala, it’s traditional art forms and festivals.
With a Mehandi and Sangeeth on the first day, the wedding celebrations began. It was in an Arabic theme beautifully placed at the lawn near the beach. With the lagoon on the right and beach on the left, the setting was perfect during the evening. The guests also enjoyed mehendi and turban wearing sessions along with some great drinks and food.
With a lot of colors, music and fireworks, the Sangeeth was a treat for the eyes. Sharon and Nikolaus danced with their friends to some of the Bollywood hit numbers too.
The wedding was an amalgam of North Indian attire and Christian rituals. Family and friends also dressed up in Indian ethnic wear to compliment the theme. The wedding venue was set opposite the lagoon and played the short video of their Austrian wedding before the couple enter. Nikolaus dressed in a beige sherwani looked dashing. Accompanied by his best man, he arrived the venue on an elephant escorted by chendamelam. Sharon dressed in a pink lehenga arrived the venue with her bridesmaids in a decorated catamaran. They both were welcomed by the guests with a big applause.
Kerala traditional art forms like Kathakali, mohiniyattom, Bharatanatyam, kuchipudi and kalaripayattu were performed as part of the entertainment session.
A Christian priest solemnised their wedding and the couple exchanged garlands. They staged their first dance as husband and wife. Their friends joined them to make it one of the best celebrations ever.
Nikolaus and Sharon has their best wedding ever at the serene beach of Kovalam. The images just speak how beautiful this tropical destination wedding was!
Having got married during the Onam season, the Hubmanns and the Skinners had a small photoshoot next day in the traditional Kerala attire. This spiced up the wedding altogether.
