The families were met, everyone seemed content and finalized the wedding day. Everyone was excited. Preparations started with hall booking and purchases. Suddenly an uninvited guest came – The Pandemic. The lockdown was imposed. Both families waited but in vain. They realized that the wedding was not going to happen on the initially planned date. Eventually, the wedding date got canceled.

When the restrictions were eased a bit, the families decided to go ahead with nuptial despite other restrictions. New dates were taken, new venues were decided, and the rest remained the same.

On the wedding day, the ambiance at Hycinth was calm and composed. With a smaller number of attendees mainly closely-knit relatives and friends, there was less commotion at the venue. But they had to perform new-age rituals such as wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing.

The phrase ‘simple is beautiful’ felt apt for the occasion. The groom arrived at the venue at 11.00 AM dressed up in the traditional Kerala style outfits. He was welcomed by the bride’s brother and relatives and escorted to the wedding dais (mandapam)
