Prasanna Devi, whom we call Prue, with love, is a lovely beautiful girl. She is half Malayee and half Chinese. Karthik is a Tamilian settled in Malaysia. Both, deep in love with each other came to Alleppey for their pre-wedding shoot.

Dramatic and absolutely Tamil movie fanatic, they wanted their pre-wedding song to be shot with a choice of three-hit Tamil songs. We had a wonderful time shooting with this lovely bunch.

Months later, when we met them at their native place, Penang, they didn’t leave any option to make us feel the most important guests of their wedding. This is the wedding where we shit and we enjoyed the best.

The celebrations started with the nalungu on the day before the wedding eve. The elaborate nalungu at the bride’s residence was followed by a similar one at the groom’s house. On the wedding eve also, there was a nalungu and followed by a family gathering.

Josireny! | A Splendid Christian Wedding in Kerala | Jo and Irene lal jose towards their happily ever after!

Two passionate souls decided to be together for the lifetime. With the blessings of their families and love and support from their all time friends Jo and Irene Lal Jose tied knot this September.

Jo and Irene.

College sweethearts and longtime buddies. Beloved son and daughter to their respective parents.

Today, they will be pronounced man and wife, before God, family and friends.

Anticipation is in the air and a medley of emotions in everyone close to the bride and the groom.

Everything has been planned to the tee. Everyone, right from the makeup artist to the caterer, has their work cut out this day as they bring to fruition the most cherished day in the couple’s lives.

We are here to capture every bit of it, plus the little gems that come by way of fleeting and spontaneous expressions of love, joy and, sometimes, anguish. Those moments are what make a wedding intimately personal.

It is Irene whom we chance upon first. She is resplendent in bridal finery – beige and gold-striped sari, layered necklaces and maang tikka/netti chutti – and every inch classy, like the ageless beauty in the painting that adorns her room.

She dutifully tucks in a few spoonfuls of rice to appease her hunger and please her mother who hovers around her attending to every detail. It could be a long day and Irene’s mother certainly doesn’t want her daughter to be running on fumes.

The family gathers for prayer, and emotions that were in check begin to show through the surface. When they give her their blessings, it is obvious that they come from the deepest recesses of their hearts.

Irene’s bridesmaids swarm her as soon as they spot her. They are ravishing and refreshingly dressed in traditional settu-mundu. We furiously click away not wanting to miss the joyous vibes surrounding this circle of thick friends.

Minutes later, Jo arrives accompanied by his family. He is dressed in a tawny kurta and is all smiles.

When the rituals get underway, we focus on capturing its sanctity without intruding on the ceremony. The room erupts in a flurry of clicks when Jo ties the ‘minnu’.

Irene’s mom is visibly overcome by emotion; to varying degrees, everyone close to the couple is. Smiles break out when the newly weds turn around to greet the guests.

Jo and Irene’s journey as a couple begins here.

****

It is 7 p.m., and the wedding reception is in full swing at the Girideepam Convention Centre.

The stage is aglow from backlights. Tiny lamps add to the luminescence. A delicate two-tier cake sits to the right side of the stage.

Irene and Jo make a grand entrance under a swaying canopy of lotus buds borne by the pretty bridesmaids.

The couple, dressed in wedding formals, look blissfully happy. She in radiant pink and he in a dark suit.

The reception hall is packed to the rafters. Many of the guests are from the Malayalam movie industry. We go into a frenzy clicking group pictures as they stream onto the stage to congratulate the couple.

The party winds down around 10 pm.

It is time for Irene to ride away to Jo’s house). It’s time for adieu.

The thought of moving out of her family, out of the cocoon of love that has always shielded her shakes her so much that she breaks into tears. Her adieu breaks their hearts too…

But they know just how much Jo means to her and how much she means to him and that this is the fairytale ending to their beautiful love story.

VikhyathMedia happily presents the wedding highlights of Jo Mathew (Son of Mathew Joshua and Sherin Mathew) and Irene Lal (Daughter of Lal Jose and Leena Lal)

How to hire a candid wedding photographer for your wedding in India?

Choosing the right wedding photographer and cinematographer is a tedious and an elaborate affair. As you plan your wedding, you will have questions like, how many photographers should cover my wedding. Should I hire a professional wedding photographer or a candid wedding photographer? Or, should I opt for both? Most importantly, you will be confused to identify who is a candid photographer and who is a conventional wedding photographer. Here is your answer to the question, How to hire a candid wedding photographer and does it add value and beauty to the wedding photo album.

What is Candid Photography?

Candid photography is identifying and capturing spontaneous, momentary and natural instances of emotions, be it happiness, excitement, joy or even tears. One of the best USBs of candid photography is that it is shot in motion and the photographer will be able to capture someone in their most natural way. It brings in a sense of spontaneity and the chances of the subject to be too camera-conscious is rare. The images look realistic and contemporary. In weddings, candid photography is a method of capturing images that involve shooting the wedding from a journalistic perspective without ‘touching’ the scene in any way. Sometimes you will not realize that a photographer is actually covering your wedding. S/he blends so much with the crowd that his/her presence is not at all noticed.

Indian wedding photography is largely about capturing these natural shots, as it brings out the essence of the rituals and ambiance as they truly are, without always telling the bride, groom or the guests to pose. For obvious reasons, candid photography does not require the bride, groom or the guests to dress up elaborately or apply cosmetics. It could be those blink-and-you-miss-it moments as you wink at your BFF while getting to the mandap, or that rare moment when your dad sobs during your Bidai or even your aunt scolding the caterer. The shots are mostly frozen in natural lighting as far as possible. Most of the time the bride, groom or the guests, are not even aware that they are being clicked. These are those moments of your story that only a talented and experienced candid wedding photographer can capture.

How are candid wedding pictures important?

Professional wedding photographers are well equipped with their lights, lenses and the crew aligned to capture the wedding from beginning to end. They take all formally posed images with friends, family and all other acquaintances. They make sure that not a single important ritual or a close family member is missed out during the photo session. A story of the wedding with all rituals is well captured by them. Candid images blow an extra life to those images. You will find a coy bride in the formal images, whereas there are chances that you find her naughty side teasing the groom in the candid photographs. Adding them to the Wedding album makes it the best wedding album you can make.

Identify a good candid wedding photographer

Wedding photography is one of the most competitive industries where you will find hundreds of youngsters labeled themselves a Candid wedding photographer. To pick the right one from this crowd is indeed a tough job. To identify the best candid photographer who will match your style, primarily, look out for these platforms

• Website
• Instagram page
• Facebook page

Look out for images s/he shared on these platforms. If they match the style you want to see in your image, bravo! You have found your best candid wedding photographer for your day. Some talented photographers will have NDA with their clients. If you think the guy has the potential, write to them and ask for reference images. They will share you their best clicks and you can choose accordingly.

As you have chosen the photographer, make sure you meet him/her personally or at least talk in person with him/her about your expectation and the agenda of the day. Let them know if you have any specific moments that cannot be left. Also, give them an opportunity to speak about their style of work. Build a rapport with the photographer so that you will be comfortable working together for the coming days.

Thus you have chosen the best candid wedding photographer for your most treasured wedding day. On the wedding day, let your family and friends know that you have an extra photographer working so that s/he can be accommodated during the make-up session, wedding, and the reception party.

Do not ask for all unedited images as s/he will have the best and worst, over and underexposed, and not so perfectly frames images. Give them time to sort and edit the best pictures and you will surely drool over them again and again.

Candid wedding albums

While creating wedding albums, it might be a good idea to include both candid as well as formal images. During weddings and other events, these Candid photographs manage to capture the hullabaloo of the preparations in a unique lively manner. Candid pictures speak a lot. This is what makes them extremely humorous at times, capturing the playful side of people, which comes spontaneously and which would never have happened had they been posing all along.

A beautiful Beach-side destination wedding videography at Kovalam, Kerala

Madhu Shani & Vidhuchan had a beautiful, intimate wedding in Kovalam last month. They both are Srilankan natives living in France but, they decided to have their wedding and other ceremonies here. What more than a destination wedding at one of the beautiful and serene beaches in India. Many of their friends & colleagues from France flew down to attend the wedding, which was full of personal little details thought out by the bride, groom and their very sporty parents.

The couple had one clear objective — have the time of their lives, surrounded by their closest friends and family. As destination wedding photographers, we thought that the destination they chose provided a gorgeous background to do it!

Here are some of our favourites from their wedding…

Thus we worked with Gonzalo from Vienna

In our journey towards excellence as one of the best wedding photographers in Trivandrum, we have associated with the best talents in the industry. Last wedding season was one of a kind when we got the opportunity to associate with Gonzalo Bell, an international photographer from Vienna. It was a new experience for us and we could work together for almost a dozen of weddings.

Gonzalo Bell is a documentary photographer came down to India to shoot the vivid and various wedding rituals in India. We had the good fortune to meet him and associate with him for our winter weddings. It was indeed a great experience to work with such a talented person who even has the experience working for UN’s humanitarian projects. Watch what Gonzalo has to say about VikhyathMedia.

At VikhyathMedia, we are open to talents with different capabilities. Every photographer is unique in his/her own way. We provide the right platform for them to show case their talents. This is probably one of the main reasons behind us being one of the top professional photographers in Trivandrum.

Nithin – Aswathy, a simple wedding that was elegant

On a fine morning, when we were rushing to office, we got a call from USA. Nithin, as he explained, said he knows nothing about wedding photography and its rates and would like to know what all should be needed for his wedding that was to happen on May 1, 2015. We explained him the trends and inquired about his requirements. He seemed impressed with us and gave us the deal. he was the first client who signed us up without personally meeting us. That was the trust he had on us. Though many such assignments followed, Nithin remains that special person who believed us wholeheartedly.

On the day of the wedding, our team met him, his father Capt. Unnikrishnan and his sister Neethu at their residence at Pandalam. The crew moved with the Bridegroom to Punalur, where the wedding was to happen. There awaited a beautiful and charming bride Aswathy smiled so much from her heart that it radiates to every other person who meets her.

A simple and elegant kerala hindu wedding followed and we could get some beautiful frames of the couple. As we came back to Pandalam, Nithin wanted us to take their couple images at the field nearby. He wanted the greenery and beauty of Kerala to be part of his D day. The photo session that followed gave us some amazing shots of the duo and they are one of our featured weddings.

Nithin remains one of our preferred clients for his gentle and well mannered demeanor. Aswathy’s smile is captured in our memories forever. Capt. Unnikrishnan and family took care of us in every possible way, that we felt honoured and humbled. We wish them to keep their smilies intact in the years to come and have a wonderful life ahead.

The Great Indian Destination Wedding Reception at Vivanta by TAJ, Kovalam

The one thing that Dr. Basil Skinner and Dr. Aneeta Skinner wanted from us was to grant their daughter, Sharon’s wish of a fairy tale wedding. Based in the UK, the Skinners did not want to miss out on the grandeur of an Indian wedding. This is why even though Sharon and her groom, Nikolaus already had a civilian wedding in the UK and a church wedding in Austria, they reached out to us to add in the hint of Indian-ness to their big day.

The Skinner parents wrote to us and asked us for the details on shoots, products, and some sample pictures for reference. When they were satisfied, they flew down from the UK to meet us and finalize the venue. Taj Kovalam was chosen as where the magic would happen, and all those magical memories would be locked up in the photographs.

The event was supposed to be a two-day destination event with sangeet and mehndi on the first day and the wedding reception on the second. We had to plan out everything- what will be shot, how will it be shot, what are her expectations, and even the small sneak peeks that she and Nickolas would give us into their lives amidst the festivities.

Their story is as beautiful and as fairy-tale-like as their wedding was! The bride, Sharon, is an Indian-born, pampered, loved daughter and is brought up in the UK. The groom, Nikolaus, is originally from Austria. The love birds first met at an official gathering, and it is there where they exchanged eyes. Something stirred in their hearts that day that kept brewing slowly, and over time, they realized that they were indeed in love with each other.
Some stories already are so beautiful, and we only frame through our lens- the love story of Sharon and Nikolaus was one of them.

The Venue:

Vivanta by Taj Kovalam is an idyllic setting for those who want to be surrounded by the magnificent beauty of Kerala, including the beach and the lagoon on either side. Everyone who sets foot in this venue is elevated to a sublime environment as the aura of this place is serene and pious with its lush greenery and waters.

The venue is decently large to accommodate all the guests who had graced the wedding with their presence. Day 1, Mehndi and Sangeet, was organized at the beachside venue with the waves and breeze. Day 2, the wedding reception, was held on the lawn facing the lagoon with its lush green scenic beauty.

On the wedding day, Nikolaus arrived on a majestic elephant accompanied by Chendamelam. His entry was just as royal as they had wished it to be. Nikolaus, as Sharon says, “Looked like an absolute Maharaja in his Shervani”. Sharon’s younger brother received the groom with all honor, and they waited together to receive Sharon.

Sharon arrived at the venue in a beautifully decorated boat through the lake. Her entry left everyone in awe of her beauty. Adhering to the Indian traditions, Sharon chose to wear a ghagra-choli for both ceremonies.

The fireworks around them were dulled by the spark in the eyes of Nikolaus and Sharon when they saw each other. Music and dance added to the element of sublimity in the environment. The bride and the groom were accompanied to the Mandap by classical dancers who made the scene look no less than a fairy tale with their elaborate costumes and gentle mudras. At the graciously decorated Mandap, a priest summoned their wedding. Indeed, the wedding of Sharon and Nikolaus was filled with emotions and beautiful moments that we were able to capture through our lens successfully.

Photography Is A Big Part Of Wedding:

An Iyengar wedding Tale – Krishna- Raghuram

A Tamil Brahmin wedding is a completely different experience from the more Hindu Nair weddings that happen in Trivandrum, as you can imagine, everything from the rituals, the music to the settings are all entertaining and colourful. If you have attended a Tamil Brahmin wedding before, you should know how much fun they are. From the maapilai azhaippu, the exchanging the garlands, the kasi yatra and the oonjal, etc. There is so much to delight on in a Brahmin wedding. Adding to this was the combination of a vibrant bride and a handsome groom. To us all this meant one thing – more exciting moments to cover and take pictures of.

The most important factor from the perspective of a photographer/videographer is the chemistry between the couple. Almost always, we make sure the couple are happy and not nervous while shooting some pre-directed shots to add fun to the wedding album. The couple would already be overwhelmed with so many things happening around them on the wedding day and we want to be the last of their concerns. But for Krishna and Raghuram, we could sense the wonderful chemistry between them and we were all excited to shoot their wedding. Their familiarity with each other showed in the final output. They had so much fun during the rituals and the photoshoot that followed, that it was just a tireless job following them to get some amazing frames and finest moments.Their friends and family were very cooperative as well, which made our job so much more easy.

This is one of the weddings where we just could not narrow down to 10-20 best shots and upload it here. There are just hundreds. The wedding video and the photo album are flowing with those wonderful instances, that the couple will have a multitude of reasons to go back and relive the day again and again.
